Cameron Co. Judge Grants Defense Request for More Time in Capital Murder Case

BROWNSVILLE – A Cameron County jury deciding the fate of a man convicted of capital murder for killing a Border Patrol agent will remain sequestered for the weekend.

They were dismissed late Friday morning.

Willacy County prosecutors rested their case in the sentencing phase for the trial of Gustavo Tijerina-Sandoval.

The defense asked for more time to make their case.

State District Judge Migdalia Lopez gave the defense until Monday afternoon to resume.
