The Edinburg Police Department is teaming up with local faith-based organizations to collect canned goods ahead of Thanksgiving.

The department is accepting canned meats, vegetables, soups and beans.

“[It’s] to give back to the community. We understand the holidays are coming, so we want everyone to have a nice holiday and a cooked meal, as everyone would enjoy during the holidays," Edinburg police officer Felicia Barragan said.

Donations can be dropped off at the Edinburg Police Department, Ceballos Diaz Funeral Home, UR Home Church, or First Lutheran Church.

There is also a drive-thru drop-off event on Oct. 9, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church.
