High-Risk Classification Title Removed from Valley VA Clinics
HARLINGEN – The Veterans Affairs Texas-Valley Coastal Bend Health System has improved their classification and is no longer considered high risk.
In recent years, the clinic’s ratings were less than favorable.
KRGV’s Trason Bragg explains the health system was one of 15 classified as high risk; that classification was lifted.
The acting deputy chief of staff at VA Texas-Valley Coastal Bend Health System, Dr. Jennifer Wood, explains a task force was instrumental in improving the clinic’s call center and also had an impact on the level of care provided to patients suffering from conditions such as COPD, diabetes and dehydration.
Wood explains conditions that can be successfully managed on an outpatient basis can help prevent hospitalizations and ultimately plays a role in removing the high risk title.
