LOS FRESNOS – Jackie Kingsbury graduated from Los Fresnos as the Falcons’ all-time leader in kills on the volleyball court. She’s hit the ground running at UTRGV. The Vaqueros freshman started the season opener against nationally ranked Ohio State.

“Playing that match and the game experience, I’m just happy with this team and the progress we’re making,” said Kingsbury.

Kingsbury and UTRGV volleyball coach Todd Lowery go way back. They first met at a UT-Brownsville camp when Kingsbury was just eight years old.

“He taught me how to play so it was kind of like wherever he goes, I’m going to go and it just so happened to be an hour away from home,” said Kingsbury.

“Worked with her for a long time and she’s given us everything that we expected from her,” said Lowery. “She into the gym and works hard and just has a passion for being a better volleyball player. I think this is the best environment for her where she’s challenged every day. She’s rising to it and she’s going to be something special before she leaves here.”

Kingsbury recently made her home debut in Saturday’s win over Texas Southern. The former Los Fresnos Falcon had four kills and a block.
