Made in the 956: Donna native balances Las Vegas stage career with debut fantasy novel
Donna, TX (KRGV) — A Donna native has published his first book while building a career in live entertainment.
Hiram Alexander graduated from Donna High School in 2012 and later earned a B.A. in theatre arts from the University of Iowa.
"I'm a writer; I'm an author, but I guess you can say my full-time job is I work in live entertainment. So I do wardrobe, I'm a costume designer and stylist," Alexander said. "People say, 'Oh, don't do theater, don't do any of the arts; it's gonna be hard to find a job,' but I have been very lucky to have a career in what I love to do."
He now lives in Las Vegas and works on live entertainment shows. He has worked on a residency for Jersey Boys, Stranger Things: The Experience and is now working on magician Shin Lim's residency.

"I think when I was living in the Valley, I didn't quite appreciate it as much as I do now. Every time I go back, I'm like, 'This place is amazing,'" Alexander said.
Alexander says the Rio Grande Valley has a story in every corner, and it remains a source of inspiration for his future novels.
