McAllen man sentenced to 33 years after recording himself sexually abusing a minor
A 29-year-old man was sentenced to over 33 years in prison after he recorded himself sexually abusing a child, according to a Wednesday news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office Southern District of Texas.
Christian Hanks pleaded guilty to charges of enticement of a minor and production of child abuse material on Oct. 15, 2024, according to the release. He was sentenced to 400 months on the enticement charge and 360 months on the production charge.
The court ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
According to the release, Hanks recorded himself sexually abusing a minor victim in December 2023.
“The investigation revealed years of communication between himself and the minor regarding further sexual abuse, and requests to abuse the minor and other minor children,” the release stated.
Investigators also learned Hanks groomed a girl in Louisiana and had sexual intercourse with her, the release added.
The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations in Texas and Louisiana.
"The conviction and sentencing of this individual today highlights our steadfast dedication to safeguarding our children,” Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations Deputy Special Agent in Charge Mark Lippa said in a statement. “With the sentence of production of child pornography, ICE-HSI sends a strong message that such reprehensible behavior will not be tolerated. We must remain united in our efforts to protect the safety and well-being of every child.”
As part of his sentence, Hanks will be ordered to register as a sex offender and serve 10 years of supervised release following the end of his prison sentence.
Hanks remains in federal custody pending his transfer to a prison facility.
