MHWS issues boil water notice for Del Mar Heights customers
Progreso, TX (KRGV) — Military Highway Water Supply Corporation issued a boil water notice for Del Mar Heights customers who receive water from East Rio Hondo Water Supply Corporation after an emergency water line break.
The break happened at 5 p.m. Oct. 8. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required Military Highway Water Supply Corporation to tell customers to boil water before they use it for drinking and other consumption.
Customers should boil water before they drink it, cook with it, make ice, brush their teeth or wash their face and hands. The water system said people should bring water to a vigorous boil and keep it boiling for two minutes.
Children, older people and people with weakened immune systems are especially vulnerable to harmful bacteria. People can also use bottled water or another suitable water source for drinking and other human consumption.
People with questions can call Water and Wastewater Superintendent Ricardo Perez at 956-565-2491.
The water system will notify customers when they no longer need to boil water.
