UPDATE (4/24): The site of an illegal burn in Mission is going to be cleaned up. 

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality met with a property owner near the burn and spoke about corrective action, including the removal of the trash piles. 

The case remains under investigation.

MISSION – Residents who live near a toxic burn in Hidalgo County are fuming.

Clothes are burning in Mission and we’re told it’s not safe.

KRGV’s Angelo Vargas spoke with a homeowner who says the blaze has continued for a month.

The homeowner received a call from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality during the interview.

The TCEQ staff person explained he needs to call Hidalgo County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Deputy Fire Marshal Erick Sanchez says their office is investigating; they have a meeting set up with the property owner next week.
