A mother and her two daughters were arrested following a traffic stop in Harlingen.

Lily Mata, Gianna Salinas and Laila Salinas are facing charges after allegedly assaulting an officer.

The incident occurred on Saturday, Aug. 22. A Harlingen police officer conducted a traffic stop for failure to signal a lane change. The vehicle came to a stop in the parking lot of a Walmart, located at 1801 West Lincoln Avenue.

According to a news release, Lily was identified as the driver and was found to have an invalid driver's license, no insurance and active municipal court warrants. She was cited for traffic violations and placed under arrest.

While a Harlingen police officer was attempting to place Lily in their patrol unit, her daughter, Gianna, allegedly grabbed the officer by the hair and pulled her backward, resulting in a physical struggle.

The news release said during the incident, Lily's other daughter, Laila, allegedly reached and grabbed at the officer's duty belt.

Additional officers arrived and assisted in taking all three women into custody.

Lily was charged with driving while her license was invalid without financial responsibility. Her bond was set at $2,500.

Gianna was charged with interfering with public duties, resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer. Her bond was set at $50,000.

Laila was charged with interfering with public duties and attempting to take a weapon from an officer. Her bond was set at $25,000.
