Palmview Residents Reacting to Fatal Sunday Afternoon Fire
PALMVIEW – A Rio Grande Valley neighborhood is in mourning after an 11-year-old girl passed away in a fire.
At first, the girl was unaccounted for, but by 7 p.m., Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra confirmed she died.
A family member tried to save her.
"An adult, an elderly man was injured," said Guerra. "We believe the relationship to the female was a grandfather. He was injured trying to break one of the windows to gain entry to the house."
CHANNEL 5'S Frank McCaffrey spoke to neighbors at the scene, who saw it all start.
