Pharr Housing Director Explain Reasons Behind Long Waiting Periods for Assistance
PHARR – The wait for public housing has people in the Rio Grande Valley wanting to know why it may take more than a year to get a home.
Many cities have public housing offices and they’re independent from one another but their rules are set by the federal government.
Pharr housing authorities tell CHANNEL 5 NEWS they have limited budgets and limits spots.
Some others offer their own apartments, while others offer vouchers to help someone in need pay their rent.
The one thing common between all of them is the waiting list.
