A new exhibit at the Pharr Public Library is telling the story of the Rio Grande Valley's citrus history.

The exhibit is called "Pharr Packed with History." It explores when citrus was a dominant industry in the area and how freezing temperatures changed everything.

"We easily competed with Florida and California; unfortunately, there were some freezes in the 30s that kind of just devastated the citrus industry as a whole in the Rio Grande Valley," Museum of South Texas History Exhibit Curator Jenarae Bautista said.

The exhibit is free and open to the public through Dec. 13.
