PREMONT – Residents in Premont who were affected by flooding are looking forward to relief.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has added Jim Wells County to the list of those affected by June’s heavy rain.

Residents will now be eligible for the same benefits as residents in Hidalgo and Cameron Counties.

KRGV’s Christian von Preysing spoke with the city’s only veterinarian who faced some of the worst flooding.

Gene Wilkinson explains he received a lot of support from the community.

He says his staff is on the clock still working to complete repairs from flood damage.
