EDCOUCH – People living in an Edcouch neighborhood were surprised to find an alligator’s carcass in a nearby ditch.

A curator of reptiles and amphibians at Gladys Porter Zoo says American alligators can be found all over the Rio Grande Valley.

He warns people to not get close to one or feed it.

KRGV’s Taylor Winkel reported the carcass to Texas Parks and Wildlife. They say dumping dead animals is considered littering and can be a misdemeanor.
