MISSION - Two Border Patrol units crashed into a Mission resident’s front yard while responding to a smuggling event.

It happened on the intersection of 7th Street and Oblast in Mission Thursday.

A Border Patrol truck with a medical unit attached crashed into the corner of a home; a second unit crashed along the right of way.

Perla Munoz says she saw the incident first-hand.

"I was getting ready to leave when I saw a Border Patrol suburban heading south, and another heading east. He couldn't avoid the stop sign, so they crashed,” says Munoz.

Border Patrol says they were responding to a smuggling event.

Maria Aventura Cruz says she heard the crash from inside her home and ran outside for her husband.

"I couldn't find him. I said, 'where is he,' 'where is he.' I found him sitting there. He didn't know what had happened right next to him," says Cruz.

Border Patrol says the agents went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Cruz says the agency will pay to repair her damaged property.

The crash is still under investigation.
