McALLEN – From the opening tip of the season, Rowe came out firing. In non-district, the Warriors picked up tournament titles. The first coming at the Poundfest in McAllen where junior Jackie Alanis took home MVP honors.

“When we don’t work, there’s no way of winning,” said Alanis. “But we come together and work together.”

“These past two tournaments we’ve won, we’ve really come together and it’s helped us grow as a team,” said senior Kayla Cruz. “It’s barely the beginning.”

After going four rounds deep in 2015, last year Rowe got knocked out in bi-district. That first round exit taught the young Warriors to stick together.

“Last year we were sometimes off and blamed each other,” said Alanis. “But this year we made a commitment to work together.”

“My sophomore year I learned that every round of the competition gets harder and harder,” said Cruz. “District is just starting so hopefully we just get stronger and stronger from here on out.”
