A suspect is in custody in connection with a quadruple homicide in San Benito, according to Cameron County Sheriff Manuel Treviño.

The sheriff confirmed the suspect was identified as Christian Joel Maldonado Pacheco. According to the Cameron County inmate list, Pacheco is facing charges of capital murder of multiple persons.

The homicides took place in the 32000 block of Road 819 Sunday morning.

Treviño said the four victims were related to the suspect and they were all found with gunshot wounds. Three were found inside the home, while the fourth victim was found on the side of the road.

On Sunday, Treviño said the suspect and victims were related, but he later clarified that Pacheco was a tenant who had been living with the family for four years.

Pacheco is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
