NEAR ELSA – A man is in custody after leading authorities in a high-speed chase in Hidalgo County.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office says a woman’s vehicle was hijacked at gunpoint Thursday morning at convenience store El Grano De Oro.

The pursuit came to an end on Mile 20 North Road where the suspect struck the Tahoe into a pole, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

We're told a sheriff's deputy recovered a handgun from the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
