Former Cameron County Sheriff Office employee facing bribery and drug charges
A former employee with the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office was arraigned on Thursday on multiple charges.
The employee, identified as Eduardo Antonio Villarreal, was charged with bribery, bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility, and abuse of capacity. His bond was set at $30,000.
In a news release, Sheriff Manuel Treviño said the employee was arrested on Wednesday. During a press conference held after the arraignment, Treviño said Villarreal was fired.
