Two-a-Day Tour 2026: Monte Alto Blue Devils
Monte Alto made a coaching change for the 2026 season with the goal of snapping its 54-game losing streak.
Kenneth Arredondo was chosen to guide the program to greener pastures, and so far, the players have bought in and are confident they can finally earn their first win since 2019.
"We're shooting for great things," Coach Arredondo said. "We're going to set the bar high. We're going to achieve our goals at the end of the day. We know about the streak and we're going to try to break it this year."
"All those loses are in the past," senior running back and linebacker Mateo Rojas added. "We're a new team this year. It's a new team every year, so we're go in with that mindset and we're going to get a win this year."
"I envision a good season, everybody stay healthy, get a win for sure, and change the culture here in Monte Alto," sophomore running back and quarterback Noe San Miguel said.
Coach Arredondo bring over 10 years of coaching experience in football, basketball, and baseball. He recently worked alongside Lyford head football coach Gerardo Jauregui.
"Great coaches learn from Coach Jauregui being one," Arredondo said. "There's a lot, Coach James, Coach Garcia, the list goes on, but at the end of the day, as coaches {being} hard workers, they instill that in us as young coaches each and every single day, so very blessed to have that under my pedigree and just trying to bring it over here as well. And these coaches {here} are great. They made the transition very easy for me and the kids, they have bought in to everything that we got going on so we're on the same page."
Monte Alto kicks off the non-district slate on the road against Agua Dulce on August 28th. District play starts on September 18th when the Blue Devils host Premont. The regular season finale takes place at Taft on November 6th.
