Two credit unions in Hidalgo County are back up and running after a system outage left members unable to access their banking information.

The Edinburg Teachers Credit Union and the South Texas Federal Credit Union were both affected by the outage.

Members said they could not use online banking to check statements or deposit and withdraw money.

The cooling infrastructure at a third-party data center failed, causing the core processor to go down and affecting both credit unions.

South Texas Federal Credit Union CEO Francisco Rangel said their systems were back up since the weekend and they are working on a plan for the future.

The Edinburg Teachers Credit Union has not returned calls made by Channel 5 News. Their website said their systems are back up and running and they truly appreciate their members' patience and understanding while their systems were being restored.
