1 person dead following officer-involved shooting in Mission

Six Mission police officers are on administrative leave following an officer-involved shooting that left one person dead.
The shooting happened at around 12:04 a.m. Aug. 16 in the 1600 block of Oblate Avenue.
According to a news release, officers responded to reports of a person experiencing a "high-stress situation." During the incident, the person moved toward a citizen and officers while armed with a knife.
Officers fired their weapons and struck the individual, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
No injuries were reported, and following department protocol, the involved officers were placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
On Monday, the Mission Police Department confirmed they found a knife at the scene.
The Texas Rangers will investigate the shooting, and the Mission Police Department will also conduct its own administrative investigation.
