Alton Police Department unveil new card skimming devices

Officers with the Alton Police Department are now conducting checks on fuel pumps around the city with their new credit card skimmer detector.
The device allows officers to check ATMs and fuel pumps for card skimming devices, according to a release from the department.
“Our goal is to provide residents with added peace of mind when using their cards for purchases or ATM withdrawals,” the department stated in the release. “If you have concerns about a specific ATM or fuel dispenser, please contact us. We’re here to help keep our community safe.”
