Floods in Sebastian causing Health Concern for 93-Year-Old Woman
SEBASTIAN – Many Rio Grande Valley residents don’t know where to turn after the latest round of flooding Monday.
Ninety-three-year-old Maxamina Cortez says the roads in Sebastian are very flooded and are causing trouble for her.
She says her son stays with her, but at her age it’s still hard to get around due to her health.
Cortez needs regular health checkups, but now that her street is flooded, she isn’t sure where to turn,
CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached out to the American Red Cross to find out about possible options for Cortez.
The Interim Executive Director for the South Texas Chapter, Carmen Arrata, reminds about the shelter set up at the community safe room in Raymondville.
Arrata says there are other organizations associated with Red Cross at the shelters who can provide support for long-term recovery for people with concerns like Cortez’s.
