Man pleads guilty in 2021 shooting death in San Benito

A man pleaded guilty Wednesday in connection with a 2021 murder in San Benito.
Jesus Robles was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of 60-year-old Adelaido Mendoza.
According to previous reports, Mendoza’s body was found slouched inside a pickup truck with a single gunshot wound to his head on the 100 block of Virginia St. in San Benito in February 2021.
Witnesses at the scene identified Robles as the suspect. He was found hiding underneath an abandoned home near Mendoza’s body.
A motive for the murder was not available.
As part of a plea deal, Robles will receive jail credit for the three years he’s spent in custody.
