Valley View begins the 2026 season with the return of Carlos Saenz as the head football coach. Saenz is familiar with the program after coaching the Tigers in 2015.
His goal is to turn the program in the right direction by instilling a winning mentality to his players.
"If we can make them believe that they can win, that's the first and foremost we need to do," Coach Saenz said. "So all the coaches are believing in it and we're pushing it, so if they can believe they can do it, they can do it."
"It's very important to all of us especially coming from multiple losing seasons," senior nose guard Joseph Lopez added. "It hurts going 1-9 in back-to-back years, so I'm hoping we get to hold a golden football at the end of my senior year."
This year, the Tigers will have several new faces at key positions and that the next practices and scrimmages are going to be crucial so all players are on the same page by the time week one rolls around.
"We're trying to start from scratch because we're running a totally new offense and a totally new defense, so we had the privilege of bringing two really good coordinators to really help me get this program going," Coach Saenz said. "We're going to worry about what we can do, how better we can get so we're focused on ourselves. We're going to keep pushing forward, tiger tough."
Valley View has five non-district games beginning with week one against Juarez-Lincoln. District play begins on week seven when the Tigers host Alice. Their final regular season game is a road match against Edcouch-Elsa.
