The UTRGV Vaqueros program will compete in the NCAA West First Round and the program is sending a record eight competitors. Three track athletes will run for the Vaqueros, the other five will be competing in field events.
If any of the Vaqueros finish in the top 12 in their events, they will advance to the NCAA championship meet in Oregon which begins on June 11th.
"The expectation this year is to make it to nationals," UTRGV's Corin Burns said, who is set to compete in the men's 200-meter dash. "At least get top-12 this year and be able to compete among the best out of the best."
