Alton Fire Department gets new 4,000-gallon water tanker to fight rural fires
Alton, TX (KRGV) — The Alton Fire Department has a new tanker to help fight fires in areas where water is limited, the department says.
The tanker can hold 4,000 gallons of water. Hidalgo County Emergency Services District No. 6 bought the $680,000 tanker with taxpayer funds.
“A lot of that rural area does not have access to fire hydrants, so that will definitely allow us to get water in those areas much faster,” ESD Commissioner Janie Gaytan said.
