Border Patrol Sees Steady Increase in Illegal Crossings
MCALLEN – New numbers from Border Patrol show a rise in the number of people caught crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally.
After the start of the Trump administration, the number of border crossings dropped dramatically. But since the start of the year, those numbers have been steadily increasing month after month.
A woman from Honduras said problems in her country still drive people to the U.S.
“We flee from poverty and bad people,” she told CHANNEL 5 NEWS.
Sacred Heart Church’s respite center, which once processed as many as 400 immigrants a day, downsized its operations to a smaller building.
However, we’re told they still receive a steady flow of people from Central America.
