Excitement is now the first memory the Garcia-Nieves family will have at their new home. 

Their dream of owning a home turned reality after Habitat for Humanity had a Thursday ceremony to dedicate the home to the family.

Staff and volunteers completed the home on Wednesday. 

Moving into a home was the Garcia-Nieves family's goal, now their next one is to watch their family grow.  

The Unity Church of Brownsville was another one of the groups who helped make this moment happen. 

The Garcia-Nieves were selected to receive the home on Nov. 2023. The family was required to put their own sweat into the project — and be a part of the building process.

The family will officially get the keys to their brand-new home next week.

Through Habitat for Humanity, the family will have to pay a monthly low-cost mortgage.
