BROWNSVILLE – Two appeals from a man on death row were rejected by the state’s highest criminal court

Attorneys for John Allen Rubio argued unsuccessfully that he was denied the chance to a plea bargain, had unconstitutional counsel because they failed to discover he suffered from a condition and that the counsel failed to present evidence that would've changed the outcome of the trial. 

Rubio was convicted in 2010 in the slayings of his common-law wife’s three children after being retried in the case.
