LYFORD – Lyford is once again without a police department after the newly-hired chief resigned after less than a week on the job.

Last month, Lyford Police Department was forced to shutdown when the former police chief and two officers took jobs elsewhere.

For a second time in the last 30 days, the city of Lyford’s police department is shut down.

Mayor Pro Tem Rick Salinas said Monday was the new police chief's first day of work. He says the chief turned in his resignation Tuesday morning.

Some residents of Lyford worry about their safety.
