Driver hospitalized after Weslaco police chase ends in crash
A driver led Weslaco police on a chase before crashing near 14th Street and Border Avenue late Thursday night, according to Weslaco Police Chief Robert Lopez.
According to police, officers were attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle, but the driver refused to stop. A pursuit followed.
The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control, and crashed into a fence near John Knox Village at around 11:12 p.m., Chief Lopez said.
The driver was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation. No other injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
