Hidalgo and Cameron counties see rush of calls on voter registration status
Rio Grande Valley, TX (KRGV) — Eligible voters in Hidalgo and Cameron counties still have time to register for the November midterm elections on the last day to sign up.
Workers at the offices in Hidalgo and Cameron counties say it has been a busy day.
"We do have a lot of calls when it comes to checking their status. That's basically one of the main calls is am I registered or can you check my status? These are many from many of the citizens that maybe haven't gone out to the polls lately or somebody that is new or doesn't know. That is one of our top questions," Hidalgo County Elections Department Election Analyst Salvador Hernandez said.
The Hidalgo County Elections Department closes at 7 p.m. and the Cameron County office closes at 6 p.m. People who are unsure if they are registered can check their status online.
