Edinburg, TX (KRGV) — A free dental clinic is coming to Edinburg and no insurance or ID is required.

The clinic runs Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Bert Ogden Arena beginning at 6 a.m. Dentists and other volunteers will offer free cleanings, fillings and extractions.

"Hidalgo County is one of those areas that has a very high percentage of individuals and families who lack health insurance coverage," Executive Director of Hidalgo County Community Agency Jaime Longoria said. "And by definition, to families like health insurance, many times, they also lack dental coverage, that causes families to go without very important and vital dental services, that can lead to chronic illnesses later on in life."

Organizers expect to serve about 700 people. Those attending should be prepared for long waits. Anyone with dental records should bring them along.
