Food Bank RGV urges seniors to renew registration for monthly food boxes
The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is asking seniors in the Commodity Supplemental Food Program to renew their registration to keep getting monthly food boxes.
Each box includes canned vegetables, beans, rice, oats, and other food items. Seniors must renew every year to verify their address, income, and other information.
Renewing also lets seniors pick up their boxes without waiting in another distribution line. The deadline to renew is Nov. 3, 2026.
“If those seniors have not participated for two consecutive months, then they are removed from the active list, and then that opens a slot to our wait list for the box,” Food Bank RGV Director of Community Impact Monica Fuentes said.
The program currently serves more than 9,000 seniors across the Valley. Click here for more details on the program, including how to apply.
