Hidalgo County, TX (KRGV) — The Hidalgo County Elections Department expects a busy Election Day on Tuesday after more than 162,000 people voted early in person.

All 69 polling locations in Hidalgo County will open at 7 a.m. Tuesday and stay open for 12 hours.

The top three polling locations for early voting were Lark Community Center, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and the Elections Annex Building. More than 14,000 people voted at each of those locations.

“Your ballot is everywhere. For example, if you reside in Weslaco and you find yourself in McAllen tomorrow and you haven't had a chance, you know, to go and vote, you can visit any of the polling locations located in McAllen to cast your ballot. Your ballot will be there,” Hidalgo County Elections Department Elections Administrator Hilda Salinas said.

Early voting totals already passed the number of early votes cast in the 2024 presidential election by nearly 3,000 and the number of early votes cast in the 2022 midterm election by about 63,000. Voters can cast a ballot at any polling location in the county where they are registered.

Anyone in line by 7 p.m. can still vote. Hidalgo County will not release early voting totals until the last person in line casts a ballot.
