The UTRGV Vaqueros fell to UTSA 45-16 at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Saturday, marking the first time the Vaqueros faced an FBS opponent in program history.

The loss also settled a friendly wager between two Texas county judges. Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez and Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai had agreed that the losing judge would wear the winning school's shirt, jersey and cap to their next commissioners court meeting.

With UTSA winning, Judge Cortez will show up to the next Hidalgo County Commissioners Court meeting on Sept. 15 in UTSA gear. 

After the loss, Judge Cortez acknowledged the result and congratulated UTSA.

"Well, the 210 got us this time," Judge Cortez said. "Congratulations to UTSA on the win and to both teams on a hard-fought game. Our Vaqueros may not have come away with the victory tonight, but we're proud of the way they represented UTRGV and the Rio Grande Valley."

The game was UTRGV's second of the season. The Vaqueros opened with a 44-0 win over the UT Permian Basin Falcons.
