South Padre Island, TX (KRGV) — Homeland Security Investigations is now working with South Padre Island after the city said its Economic Development Corporation was the victim of a cyberattack.

The city said the cyberattack led to an unauthorized transfer of funds into a fraudulent account.

"“HSI is working with the City of South Padre Island regarding an alleged financial scam. No further information is available at this time," a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson told Channel 5 News.
