WESLACO – About 800 troops are headed to the border to assist federal agents.

Defense Secretary James Mattis signed off to send troops to assist Border Patrol with the caravan of immigrants heading to the U.S.

KRGV’s Angelo Vargas spoke with a local restaurant manager who sees this as an opportunity to grow as a business.

"So, if the troops, if they're going to stay here or walk around right here, they need to eat. So maybe it can help,” he says.

The location where the soldiers will be stationed and how many will be stationed is yet to be determined.
