Visitors at a Mission park now have access to life-saving tools after the Mission Lions Club and city officials installed a safety cabinet at Lions Park.

The cabinet holds Narcan and an AED, an automated external defibrillator that can treat people suffering from cardiac arrest.

"You don't have to wait for the EMS to come. You don't have to wait for the policeman to come. You can do it yourself, and time is of the essence when it comes to saving a life," Mission Lions Club President Dora De La Garza said.

The city is now looking into grant funding for at least six more units at other parks and city facilities. Public training on the equipment is also expected.
