Mission mayoral and city council runoff elections set for Dec. 12
Mission, TX (KRGV) — Mission voters will decide three runoff races after the midterm election, according to the Hidalgo County Elections Department.
The runoffs are for the mayoral seat, and city council Places 2 and 3. The question now is whether voters will turn out like they did in the midterms.
In the mayoral runoff, incumbent Norie Gonzalez Garza will face Rick Salinas. In the Mission City Council Place 2 race, Ricardo Saldaña will face Maira Salinas, and in Place 3, Marissa Ortega Gerlach will face Daniel Tijerina.
“They're going to be deciding on who is going to represent them, represent their community, and it's important,” Hidalgo County Elections Administrator Hilda Salinas said. "It's their civic duty, it's their right to cast their ballot. So we do encourage residents within the city of Mission to get out and vote."
Early voting starts Nov. 30, and Election Day is Dec. 12.
