WESLACO – Parents and students in Texas can expect more concealed guns at schools this year.

This comes after an increase of school employees participating in the School Marshal Program.

Its main focus is to secure the safety of potential victims in shootings and to prevent school shootings altogether.

Under the program, the school employee must be appointed by the school board, have a license to carry, pass a psychological exam and complete an 80-hour training.

KRGV’s Valerie Gonzalez explains the progress this program has made.
