Pharr man charged with attempting to produce child pornography
A Rio Grande Valley man accused of attempting to produce child pornography appeared before a federal judge Tuesday.
Lee Roy Huerta, 28, of Pharr — who is described in federal court records as a "known gang member" with a felony conviction for kidnapping — made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Juan F. Alanis on Tuesday.
Huerta is accused of contacting an 11-year-old girl on Facebook, sending her pornographic photos and requesting that she send him "a sexy pic,” according to the criminal complaint against him.
The girl's mother contacted the FBI, which investigated the case.
Huerta is charged with attempting to produce child pornography and transferring obscene material to a minor.
Huerta remained in federal custody Wednesday and couldn't be reached for comment.
