Planned Parenthood in Harlingen is offering free health screenings on Saturday, Sept. 12, to mark 60 years of service in the Rio Grande Valley.

“So it's just very important for us to get these exams done, and it's one of our barriers here in the Rio Grande Valley," clinic program manager Marisol Medina said. "The statistics are that a lot of our families here in the Valley are uninsured. So being uninsured, they don't have access to go to a doctor, or even in rural areas, transportation could be a barrier as well."

Free HPV testing and pap smears will be available at the event. The clinic runs from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and is first come, first served.
