McAllen, TX (KRGV) — Two students were arrested Wednesday after they were found with a knife and BB gun at Sharyland North Junior High School, Sharyland ISD confirmed to Channel 5 News.

The discovery was made after a student reported "concerns about discussions involving a knife and a potential altercation," the district said.

The campus was placed on a brief hold as the McAllen Police Department responded to the incident and took the students into custody.

"All students and staff are safe at this time,"  the district said. "We take all safety concerns seriously and appreciate the student who came forward to report the information."

The district set up a hotline at 956-686-1415 to speak with an administrator regarding the incident.
