EDINBURG – This time next week, Edinburg High School’s varsity football team will be on the field for their first practice of the season. To kick off the festivities, the Bobcat coaching staff is holding a free camp for students ranging from 3rd grade to incoming 9th graders. The three-day camp is helping future Bobcats learn about the program.

“We do it free,” said Edinburg coach JJ Leija. “We figure we got low incoming kids, middle income kids that can come to this camp for free and not have to worry about gathering up money to come.”

Camper Jaid Martinez said, “It’s been fun playing out there with the football and practicing with other kids.”

“I’m very excited you know,” said incoming freshman Caleb Guajardo. “I want to bring back the tradition that Bobcats had and I want to get the ball rolling so we can win a district championship.”

The camp is split into three phases: defense, offense, and special teams.
