WESLACO - Staffers at shelters across the Rio Grande Valley say their migrant intake is starting to drop.

Sullivan City Police Chief, Richard Ozuna, tells us they’re not getting as many calls to help Border Patrol detain migrants crossing the border illegally.

At the Catholic Charities respite center in McAllen, Sister Norma Pimentel tells us right now they’re helping three to 500 migrants a day.

"But it's not as high as we saw months back," says Pimentel.

Numbers are also down at Loaves and Fishes in Harlingen and Good Neighbor Settlement House in Brownsville.

In a meeting with the city of Brownsville, the Good Neighbor Settlement House says they were told to expect the slow-down not to last long.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached out to Border Patrol for specifics on migrant data.
