After several delays, the sentencing of a former Brownsville ISD trustee who was found guilty of bribery is set for Wednesday, May 26.

Sylvia Atkinson was found guilty on eight counts of bribery last November.

The crimes were in connection with a movie project that served as an FBI undercover operation where Atkinson used her position as a BISD trustee to move the project forward. She made $10,000 off of the deal.

The original sentencing date for Atkinson was scheduled for last February, but the date has been pushed back four times.

One of those times was because Atkinson she hired new lawyers. The others are for unknown reasons as those documents are still under seal.

Atkinson has been out on a $50,000 bond since being found guilty. She faces up to 45 years in prison.

KRGV Channel 5 News will be at the sentencing to find out what Atkinson's fate will be as the process that started with an indictment a year and a half ago finally comes to an end.
