Accreditation Organization Evaluates UTRGV's Performance

EDINBURG – Representatives from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s accrediting body were on campus Tuesday to evaluate its performance during a probationary period.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges notified UTRGV of the 12-month probation back in December 2016.
Six representatives will report back to the national organization by the end of the week.
It may take as long as three months to find out if what they find gets the school off probation.
The concerns relate to the transition and formation of UTRGV and include questions about whether it provided accurate information about its accreditation status with the public.
